Promotion
and Placement of Students Handbook
Legal Issues and Practical Strategies
Being
updated for 2005 |
|
|
Description |
|
H.B. 656, new
legislation from the 2001 General Assembly, ends “social
promotion” in Georgia and requires under certain circumstances the
involvement of a placement committee and a plan for students who do
not perform on grade level. Additionally, the Chronic Disciplinary
Problem Students Act, State Board of Education Student Support Team
Rule, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act each require adults to
design plans for students. How
will schools and school systems deal will these myriad requirements?
How will schools ensure that these various legal requirements
will be satisfied, yet produce meaningful strategies for students?
This new publication will address all of this and more.
