Access to student
records is a topic encountered frequently as Georgia educators
fulfill their daily roles and responsibilities. The Family
Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) provides rights to
parents and students regarding access to, and confidentiality of,
students’ educational records. Many educators perceive complying
with FERPA to be uncertain and hazardous at best. Educators also
must be familiar with FERPA’s federal regulations, how the Act
interfaces with other statutes, such as various compulsory reporting
laws, and court decisions that apply FERPA to various factual
situations.
The Acts,
regulations, checklists, forms, and examples are included in an
easy-to-use format for quick, comprehensive reference. Sam Harben &
